These three men were able to appear live on the today show, fife days after being kidnapped and held in captivity in syria. Just hours before this shot of them this morning, they were freed by a Syrian Rebel Group who rescued them from an unknown group that had taken them and that had held them for five, long, horrible days. For many who cant attend tomorrow, they paid their final respects tonight. More than 400 Community Members had a rare intimate chance to say their goodbye to the first Santa Cruz Police officers ever killed in the line of duty. In my heart i knew i had to be here. How i felt. And that they are my heros. Reporter in a small room sat two flag draped caskets, carrying remains of elizabeth butler, and lauren baker. Inside, person after person was left trying to figure out why. Just walk out with such an overwhelming feeling of what a terrible waste of two great human buildings lives. The family members and fellow officers had a private viewing earlier this week. Tonight, a chance for friends, and strangers to start the healing process. Tremendous. Its helping people heal a little bit. Get a little bit of closure. Its going to take a while, of course. Repo

Nearly seven months after an unarmed teenager Michael Brown, was shot and killed in the streets of ferguson by a white police officer, the Justice Department is expected to unveil a scathing new report about widespread discrimination in the citys Police Department. Among the most troubling findings between 2012 and 2014 93 of people arrested were africanamerican. 88 of those subjected to police force were black. 9 out of 10 people who received citations were africanamerican. And 85 of vehicle stops involved black drivers. It doesnt stop there. Investigators also found evidence of racist jokes about president obama so lets bring in cnns sarah sidner. The reverend Clementa Pinckney had a beautiful voice. He had a big, big beautiful voice. The grandmothers prayer. Lord, let me be free of not me, my children, if not my children, my childrens children. Deferred gratification. So we have an obligation, a legacy to uphold. People who died so that we could have the right to vote. The people who sacrificed so that we could one day realize the dream of a black president , a black elected officials after segregation. We have an opportunity. I think it does our it does the memories a disservice if we do not vote. We dont have that we dont have that choice. We dont have that privilege to say our vote doesnt count because history tells us differently. Im sorry, but if god gave you a voice like that, god meant for you to be in charge of something. And he was. Pbs tonight released that footage of that interview they did with the reverend Clementa Pinckney for the series, the africanamericans. He was only 41 last night while murdered in his church
