Wilmington Kidder Street house known for parties, gambling, police say

More than a week after three people were shot and killed and four others injured, police have yet to make any arrests in the Kidder Street shooting investigation. A party at the home, located at 710 Kidder St., erupted in gunfire in the early morning hours of April 3, resulting in three deaths and four injuries: Zieyah Wade, 22, Shamir Jones, 21, and Destiny Roland, 16, died. Zykeria Crawford, 19, Zymiryon Atkins, 18, Valery Orelus, 18, and Keyshawn James, 21, all sustained injuries during the shooting. According to a 911 call transcript, this is not the first time police have responded to this Kidder Street address.  On July 13, 2019, Wilmington police were dispatched to 710 Kidder St. for loud sounds. According to the transcript notes, police said it Could be a loud party, or 10-40 (fight in progress) or domestic, when they arrived on scene. It ended up being a party that was broken up, the police notes continued.

Wilmington shooting house connected with another homicide case

The property was transferred from the estate of Wallace Craig Dailey to Janice Greene on Jan. 30, 2020, for the cost of $1, according to the home s deed. Greene was not immediately available for comment. Prior to that, the home belonged to Dailey after he purchased it on May 5, 2017, for $48,000, according to New Hanover County property records. The home was transferred to his estate on Aug. 25, 2017, after Dailey died. Dailey was shot and killed in the 1300 block of Dawson Street on Aug. 25, 2017. According to previous StarNews reports, Dailey was fatally shot near an empty lot between an abandoned building and feet from the entrance of Club Seahorse where he had spent the evening with a friend. As he was walking home, his friend said he was confronted by a guy who asked for a light for a cigarette. When Dailey said he didn’t have one, he was shot.

Chief Scairpon released a statement on Friday.
