Like many artists, the events of spring and summer 2020âspecifically the theatre shutdown and the industryâs racial reckoningâmobilized Schmidt to take action. All too-familiar with the inequities women of color face in the industry, Schmidt focused on drawing attention to the marginalization of women, specifically women who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latina, or Asian American-Pacific Islander in the music department space. Her first call was to her friend and mentee, Leah Vicencio.

Hudson County Welfare Office worker allegedly steals thousands from welfare recipients

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Public Integrity Unit, Special Investigation Unit charged a Hudson County Welfare Office employee with 10 counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking following an investigation that found he was allegedly fraudulently accessing Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards and making cash withdrawals.
According to the HCPO, law enforcement arrested Jersey City resident Herbert Thomas, 55, at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15, at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City.
Thomas has been charged with seven counts of third-degree Theft by Unlawful Taking and three counts of fourth-degree Theft by Unlawful Taking.

Wishes fireworks display piqued your interest in orchestrations. When did you start to explore this interest and eventually pursue it professionally?
I didn t grow up taking piano lessons from age 5, like so many of my colleagues did. I taught myself to play piano halfway through high school and became very obsessive about practicing it and becoming a good sight reader. I only am now, as an adult, fully understanding how influential this show has been.
It all started after my freshman year of college. I didn t know what I was meant to do in New York or Broadway, but I would get an internship in New York and figure it out. That was a hard summer because most internships aren t paid, so I worked multiple side jobs to be here that summer. I was working an internship at Feinstein s/54 Below and I met different music directors every week and some orchestrators who generously took me under their wing.

Greg Nobile.
Under the agreement, Masterworks has acquired a 50% ownership position in Seaview, with which it will collaborate on developing several new theatrical productions. It will additionally support Seaview in launching new film, television and podcasting verticals in 2021.
