Despite the disruptions caused by a second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Decatur made significant progress in its goals on affordable housing, supporting its local business community and planning for an inclusive and sustainable future, the mayor said Tuesday.
Various events are happening this week in and around DeKalb County, including the Decatur State of the City and Schools addresses, a Lunar New Year celebration at Legacy Park and the 18th annual Run with the Dogs 5K race. Several local government meetings are also scheduled for this week.
The City Schools of Decatur School Board will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 6:30 p.m. for a work session. The meeting will be held in person at the Wilson School Support Center, 125 Electric Ave. in Decatur.
The Decatur School Board says it's not ready to hire a permanent replacement for former superintendent David Dude and has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Superintendent Maggie Fehrman.
