The Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja, has confirmed that it is owing its troops providing security to Chinese nationals working at the ongoing Zungeru Hydro Electricity Dam Project in Niger State three months of the Ration Cash Allowance (RCA). However, the Nigerian Army authorities said that no commander or officer diverted the money, adding that troops deployed at the Chinese Company in Niger State had always been paid in tranches by the NA on receipt of the funds from the institution concerned.
Some personnel attached to 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna State, and 31 Artillery Brigade Minna have accused their Commanding Officers of corruption and financial mismanagement. The soldiers numbering 191 were attached to some Chinese nationals working at the ongoing Zungeru Hydro Electric Power Dam project in Niger State. According to some of them who spoke to SaharaReporters, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the division, Major General Bamidele Alabi and Artillery Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Jamiu Jimoh had been diverting their allowances.
