HS Wrestling: West Delaware and Independence Battle For Del-Buc Trophy – Mix 94.7 KMCH

A pair of top five ranked teams will face off under the mat lamp tonight inside the Seedorff Gymnasium as top ranked West Delaware will host 5th ranked Independence. Tonight’s dual will be the 11th meeting of the “Highway 20 Clash” and 61st meeting overall between the Hawks and Mustangs as the two teams battle for the traveling Del-Buc Trophy. The top ranked Hawks enter with a 14-0 record as they defeated 7th ranked Williamsburg and South Tama last Thursday and concluded a perfect week in dual meets with a 4-0 performance to win the CP-U duals. The Hawks lead the overall series against the Mustangs 40-20 and have won the past two meetings after Independence had won the previous six duals. The Mustangs enter with a 25-5 in dual meets this season and finished 2nd last Saturday at Ankeny’s Dave Ewing Duals. West Delaware head coach Jeff Voss says any time these two teams get together, the rivalry makes for a fun night and a great atmosphere for high school wrestling:

HS Wrestling: Battle Of Top Ranked Teams In Center Point Tonight – Mix 94.7 KMCH

The top ranked West Delaware wrestling team will put their undefeated dual meet record on the line tonight as they will take on top ranked in class 1A Don Bosco and Center Point-Urbana in Center Point. The Hawks enter with a 6-0 record and 5-0 in WaMaC action and come in off a first place team finish at the Benton Community invitational. The Hawks claimed four champions in the tournament and won six of the ten head to head match-ups with Don Bosco in the tournament. The Dons come in with a 12-1 dual record as they finished in third place on Saturday as they also had four champions and finished in third place and were 47 1/2 points shy of the Hawks. The last meeting between the two teams came at last season’s Battle of Waterloo which Don Bosco won 36-24 in the championship bracket.

HS Wrestling: West Delaware To Host Beckman And Mount Vernon – Mix 94.7 KMCH

West Delaware will wrestle in its first triangular of the season tonight as they welcome Beckman and Mount Vernon inside the  Seedorff Gymnasium. The Hawks enter with a 2-0 dual meet record and are 1-0 in the WaMaC after their 68-7 win over Solon last Thursday and had six champions this past Saturday at the South Winneshiek Invitational where they defeated 2nd ranked Osage for the team title. The evening will start with Beckman taking on Mount Vernon as the Blazers come in with an 8-3 record and 1-0 in the WaMaC East with their 34-30 win over Marion last Thursday, as they also picked up two dual victories on Tuesday night defeating Anamosa and Cascade but fell to top ranked in class 1A Don Bosco.

HS Wrestling: West Delaware Dominates In WaMaC Opener – Mix 94.7 KMCH

The West Delaware top ranked wrestling team dominated in their WaMaC conference opener last night at the Seedorff Gymnasium as they took down 10th ranked Solon 68-7. The Hawks opened the dual winning the first four matches and took a 21-0 lead heading into the 145 pound match which saw 6th ranked Caleb Ebert edging 4th ranked Logan Peyton 8-7 with a takedown and three point near fall as time expired. Jadyn Peyton got the Hawks back in the win column with a 21-6 technical fall over Jakobe Lahr before Solon two time state champion Hayden Taylor picked up a 9-1 major decision over Kyle Cole. Cole battled and put some pressure on the top ranked Spartan as he trailed just 1-0 going into the 3rd period but Taylor used a couple three point near falls and a takedown to pick up bonus points and the last win of the night as the Hawks won the final seven matches. One of those seven wins saw West Delaware’s 7th ranked 220 pounder Christian Nunley pin 6th ranked Gage Marty. Nunley trailed 5-3 l
