Entries open for the 2021 Trèfle Lozérien – France’s biggest classic enduro 02 February 2021 | Racing
Entries open for the biggest enduro in France, the Trèfle Lozérien in early June 2021 – 600 kilometres of pure enduro await the riders for the event which was cancelled in 2020.
Today, Tuesday February 2, will see entries open for the 35
th edition of the classic French enduro. Set a reminder of 8pm tonight but only if you entered the 2020 event, which had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The initial ‘window’ for 2020 entrants then closes Sunday, February 7, at midnight with the remaining open entry beginning on February 13 at slightly baffling 11:00pm.

It’s well documented that the Dakar Rally is famously the biggest off-road event on the planet. The toughest. The hardest. The most expensive. The most gruelling… We hear it each and every year. But the 2021 edition in Saudi Arabia was about as dramatic, and brutal, as they come.

Honda’s big year
Honda factory rider Kevin Benavides won the rally this year, with teammate Ricky Brabec in second. Almost as importantly, a couple of other Honda riders were in the hunt until the final stages. It’s a big change from the rally’s South American days, when riders like Paulo Goncalves and Joan Barreda would put in solid riding but were let down by their machinery. This year, Honda had no embarrassing bike problems. The combination of new team management and careful mechanical updates is working out very nicely.
And now, the word on the street is that Honda’s looking to cut its team budget. Barreda is supposedly considering retirement after a head injury, so Honda might save some money by not replacing him, or replacing him with a new rider on a smaller contract. Whatever happens, hopefully the Honda team can stay competitive. The team has been a major disruptor in the past few years, even if its results were uneven until 2020.
