Landlords use stamp duty holiday to snap up properties: Direct Line By Roger Baird 23 rd February 2021 3:22 pm Six in ten multi-property landlords have used the stamp duty holiday to expand their portfolios, according to data from Direct Line. This figure rises to 79 per cent among commercial landlords, who have added properties since chancellor Rishi Sunak suspended the tax last July. Among multi-property landlords, 43 per cent have invested in properties outside major cities, with 82 per cent of those who have done this saying they expect both a significant number of renters to move out of cities due to the pandemic and a continued trend towards remote working.
