DENVER â A laundromat in Denver s Five Points neighborhood hit a major setback over the weekend on their mission to do good in the community. It makes me feel horrible. It makes me feel bad, James Marquez said.
Denver7 first introduced you to Marquez back in mid-February when he just started a non-profit called Suds of Luv. It s a program that covers the cost of laundry for someone who simply can t afford to wash their clothes.
Marquez said after the story aired, Suds of Luv received about $1,500 in donations.

Suds of Love: Denver laundromat offers free services for those in need Whatever the case, I don’t really know, I don’t really care. I just want to help them out, the laundromat manager explained. Author: Jaleesa Irizarry Updated: 4:51 PM MST February 16, 2021
DENVER Spend a day in a laundromat and you can learn a lot. Between loads of laundry, you sometimes find out what has other people s lives in spin cycle.
As of lately, the pandemic has made the stories James Marquez hears heartbreaking. I’ve been there. I’ve been that guy, Marquez, the manager of Jessica s Laundromat said. I’ve been homeless before. I’ve been in that place where I only have three pairs of pants and don’t have anywhere to wash them. A lot of people take washing clothes for granted.

DENVER â It s a necessity many of us take for granted. Itâs itâs laundry but like itâs more than that, said 23-year-old Maribel Hernandez.
Hernandez couldn t afford to clean her family s clothes and the piles were stacking up. It wasnât just a little bit of laundry, it was a lot. We probably had like six bags, like big bags, Hernandez tells Denver7.
With no where else to turn, Hernandez posted on a Facebook group designed to help anyone impacted by the pandemic. James Marquez, an employee with Jessica s Laundromat in Denver, was tagged in the comment section.
