Just after 5 a.m. on Jan. 17, Colin Jackson and his oncologist, Dr. James Flint, took the first steps of what would end up being a 26.2-mile trek over the next 12-plus hours.
Jackson was in Phoenix, Ariz., and Flint was in Mission Beach, but the two men were walking a marathon together staying in close touch throughout the day with phone calls, texted photos of the sights they passed and screengrabs of the miles they’d completed and calories they’d burned.
For Dr. Flint, his solo marathon walk was the fulfillment of a promise to his patient and friend. For Jackson, a 39-year-old veteran marathon runner, it was a redemption.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office’s Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking arrested a Prescott man and dismantled his massive meth operation. PANT officers launched an investigation three-weeks ago into 52-year-old James Flint and revealed he was having large amounts of chemical supplies and equipment shipped from Slovakia to his apartment near the 100-block of North Cortez Street. The types of chemicals he used are chemicals needed to produce meth. In addition, steroid pills were also found at his apartment. Investigators believe the Flint’s lab was extremely advanced and significant knowledge about chemistry is required to set up the type of lab that was discovered inside his apartment.
