LaMarcus Aldridge announces retirement after heart issue

After a cardiac incident last week, LaMarcus Aldridge announced Thursday that after 15 years in the NBA, he is retiring from the game.
Shams Charania first reported the news in a series of tweets.

In a statement issued Thursday morning, Aldridge, a seven-time All-Star with Portland and San Antonio, laid out the issue and his decision.

Basketball fans also recalled the time X was in the Boston area for rehab and attended a Celtics game in 2017. Once his face graced the arena’s Jumbotron and his signature “Ruff Ryders Anthem” blared through speakers, the crowd went wild like the team had just hit a game-winning shot.

DMX’s death sent shockwaves throughout the music community on Friday, with his friends and peers remembering him as a “legend” and a “cultural icon.”
The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, died Friday morning after spending six days on life support following a heart attack last weekend. His family said in a statement, “Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever.”
