(A zero day is a term used for thru-hiking which means: Any day when you’re not gaining mileage toward the end of the trail; often this is resupply day where you lay over in a nearby town.) Yeah, yeah, we have taken zero days. We used to take one after every 100 miles, and then we had to take ten during a snow storm in Arkansas. We also take days of for tornado warnings and any other bad weather. But other than that, we haven’t taken many.

Summerton man killed in one-vehicle collision

Posted by Jake McElveen The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a single-vehicle collision that resulted in one fatality early Sunday morning. Troopers reported that around 3:30am on Nelson s Ferry Road, Dashawn Henry, the 31-year-old driver of a 2004 Dodge Ram, overturned his vehicle several times in a ditch after driving off the left side of the road. Henry succumbed to his injuries around 5:32am Sunday morning at McLeod according to Jacqueline Blackwell, Clarendon County Coroner.

Posted by Jake McElveen Manning Wine and Spirits was taken over by new management a little over a year ago in January by long-time Clarendon Resident Jeremiah Stokes. In his first few months as the new manager, Stokes did all he could to expand on what the previous owner had built. However, he has recently found himself running out of room. The solution? Find a bigger space. The space that he landed on, the old shoe show building, is only three doors down from where he is currently located. “The space is about three times as big,” said Stokes. “We now plan to sell beer, mixers, and more by dividing the space up.”
