CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced the arrest of two individuals in the homicides of two transgender women who were shot to death in hotel rooms less than two weeks apart.

Both men have been charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police arrested two men Friday in the deaths of two transgender women killed less than two weeks apart in Charlotte, N.C.
Both women were killed in hotels. Jaida Peterson, a 29-year-old Black trans woman, was shot to death April 4 in a room at the Quality Inn on the west side of Charlotte,
The Charlotte Observer reports. Police have ruled her death a homicide. Another Black trans woman, Remy Fennell, 28, was found fatally shot Thursday at the Sleep Inn. They are at least the 14th and 15th trans, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming people to die by violence in the U.S. this year.
