EPHRATA The 18U Columbia Basin River Dogs ended the Jerry Henderson Memorial Tournament with a win on Sunday over the North Spokane Dodgers, using a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead after being down three runs.
“With a young ball club and playing quality, older teams, what we were most impressed with was their ability to continue to fight despite sometimes making young mistakes,” said Brock Lybbert, co-head coach for the River Dogs. “They were able to gut out some of those wins by continuing to compete and stay in the fight.” .
MOSES LAKE – The Mavs are heading back to the 4A State Baseball Tournament, after defeating Eastmont 8-2 on Saturday in Moses Lake to clinch their spot for the fourth-straight tournament.
“Going on to state is absolutely phenomenal,” Moses Lake Head Coach Donnie Lindgren said. “. it’s a tribute to these players. They expect to go to state every year. It’s nothing we do as coaches, it’s the expectations of these players.” .
MOSES LAKE – Coming off of Tuesday’s 11-1 win over Davis, the Mavs completed the regular season sweep over the Pirates with back-to-back 4-2 wins on Friday night in Moses Lake.
“Davis is a really good team,” Moses Lake senior Joshua West said. “We saw a kid (throwing) in the upper 80’s. To beat a team like that, in a sweep, it’s really good – especially coming off of a loss. I know the team’s really hyped up after that.”
