Teen admits murder of Jack Sumner in Newcastle-under-Lyme Published image captionThe teenager admitted murder at Stafford Crown Court on Monday A 17-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to murdering a man in a violent attack in Staffordshire. Witnesses reported seeing the teen, who cannot be identified because of his age, striking Jack Sumner, 22, with a sword or metal bar on 25 June 2020. He fled the scene on Victoria Street, in Chesterton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and was later found hiding in a loft by armed police. He pleaded guilty to murder at Stafford Crown Court on Monday. Mr Sumner, who was from Newcastle-under-Lyme, suffered a fractured skull and lacerations and died from his injuries four months after the attack, on 14 October 2020.

I.J. Pinkham inducted to MPA 'Hall of Excellence'

Pinkham,former BRHS boys varsity basketball coach, was recently inducted in the Maine Principals’ Association’s “Hall of Excellence.” File photo As a Maine high school basketball coach, I.J. Pinkham had a long list of accomplishments in his 49 years patrolling the hardwood. Pinkham’s teams won 659 games, more  than any other Maine high schoolboys’ basketball coach. His 2001, his Boothbay Seahawks won the Class C State championship. Another achievement arrived in 2016, when he was inducted to the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame.  On Feb. 25, Pinkham added another achievement to his lengthy list. Pinkham and 10 others were inducted to the Maine Principals’ Association “Hall of Excellence” via an online ceremony.
