COUNTY STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDS

COUNTY STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDS By John Smathers May 3, 2021 12:32 PM The Jefferson County commissioners discussed the American Rescue Plan, a federal COVID-19 relief effort at last week’s meeting. According to the Punxsy Spirit, commission chair, Jack Matson, said the county has been waiting for funds from the state and federal governments but has not received the funds yet. Commissioner Jeff Pisarcik noted that the money is not coming from the county. Matson said some preliminary plans have been made regarding how to best use the funds but they have to see how they’re permitted to spend it first noting the rules and regulations that came along with the CARES Act.

Snow storms, hoot-owls, a new park - Times Gazette

Snow storms, hoot-owls, a new park By Tim Colliver - tcolliver@aimmediamidwest.com Editor’s note We’re continuing our tradition of taking a look back each Saturday at some of the important, interesting or even odd events as they were reported during the same week throughout the years, along with interesting advertising features from years gone by. This week in 1903, the Hillsboro News-Herald reported that the Rev. E.J. Moore and William Wheeler, representatives of the Ohio Anti-Saloon League, would be spending next Sunday in Hillsboro and would preach at the Methodist Church that morning. Ladies, are you weary and worn out all the time, suffering from a weak back with headaches, nervousness and restlessness? If so, the paper advocated buying a little tin of Doan’s Kidney Pills for immediate relief.
