IRELAND is at a very serious juncture as Covid-19 cases continue to spike, Minister Micheal McGrath has said.
The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform told how he expects household visits will be banned following an unscheduled Cabinet meeting today.

Ireland is currently under a version of Level 5 with some modifications.
Minister McGrath told how today s meeting will examine whether some or all of the amendments need to changed or removed.
The Fianna Fail TD stressed that the main message of Level 5 was for people to stay at home and cut down now on social interactions, in order regain control of the virus spread.

2,143 new Covid-19 cases have been announced in Northern Ireland - the highest number of daily detections in the region since the pandemic began.
The NI Department of Health has also confirmed six more Covid-19 related deaths.

There has now been 1,311 Covid-19 deaths in Northern Ireland since March.
492 people are being treated in hospital with 35 in intensive care units.
Meanwhile, the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine will be available in Northern Ireland from next week.
The rollout comes after the jab was approved by the UK s Health Secretary Matt Hancock and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
