Palau’s human rights record to be examined by Universal Periodic Review GENEVA (4 May 2021) – Palau’s human rights record will be examined by the UN Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group for the third time on Friday, 7 May 2021, in a meeting that will be webcast live. Palau is one of the 14 States to be reviewed by the UPR Working Group during its upcoming session taking place from 3 to 14 May . Palau’s first and second UPR reviews took place in May 2011 and January 2016, respectively. The reviews are based on: the national report from the State under review

Wu will travel to the Pacific ally Jan. 20 and return two days later, ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou (歐江安) said at a regular press briefing in Taipei. Given the strong friendship between Taiwan and the Pacific island nation, which has not recorded a single coronavirus case to date, President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) appointed Wu to head Taiwan s delegation to the inauguration of the new president and vice president, Ou said.
