(April 2, 2021) While not taking top honors, Berlin placed fourth in the 2021 Best Small Town Beer Scene contest that concluded on March 26.
The USA Today 10 Best Readersâ Choice contest ended with Berlin outpaced by top three finishers: Avondale Estates, Georgia, Maple Shade, New Jersey and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Berlin Economic and Community Development Director Ivy Wells said the contest involved some top-flight communities.
âWe were in the company of some amazing towns throughout the country,â she said.
Wells said nominees were initially selected through a joint effort by an expert panel and 10Best editors.
âPeople wanting to nominate us indicates ⦠we belonged in that class,â she said.

BERLIN – Residents’ bright ideas and creative cheer shined through in the first ever Light Up Berlin contest.
Officials announced the winners of the Light Up Berlin contest this week after more than 30 homes entered the new competition. The home decorating contest was created to give local families some something festive to enjoy this holiday season when the pandemic has prompted the cancellation of so many traditional activities.
“Thank you to everyone who entered the contest,” said Ivy Wells, the town’s economic and community development director. “So many families had a wonderful time on their magical journey through town.”
The George Bailey Award for the most traditionally decorated house went to 414 S. Main St.
