Volunteers can get into the spooky Halloween spirit by hanging out with spiders and eating candy, all while helping to improve habitat for owls, bats, and bugs (among many other forest critters) from 3:30-5:30 pm on Oct. 26 in Pioneer Park. The event will feature weed removal to prepare for planting. No experience is necessary, and people should wear long pants, boots or sneakers and bring water. Small snacks, gloves and tools will be provided. Meet at the corner of Island Crest Way and Southeast 68th Street; follow the volunteer event signs.
