FDE decision on Saturday working day draws flak

Islamabad : The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has declared Saturday as a working day for the public sector educational institutions it regulates in Islamabad Capital Territory.
The FDE declared a six days work week amid the COVID-19 surge when the ICT administration imposed a smart lockdown in various sectors and restricted the movement of residents in 27 streets in different sectors due to a COVID-19 spike and higher positivity ratio.
The teachers said the most paradoxical thing was that the controlling office, FDE, was closed on Saturdays.
A teacher at the Islamabad Model Postgraduate College told The News that though the monsoon arrival had provided relief to the people from hot and humid weather, infectious diseases were spreading.

Islamabad : The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has notified the promotion of seven professors (BPS-20) of Islamabad’s government colleges.
According to the notification, three male and two female associate professors (BPS-19) of the federal government colleges and two male associate professors of model colleges have been promoted as professors (BPS-20).
The Central Selection Board had recommended the promotions last month before the prime minister endorsed them.
The principal of Islamabad Model Postgraduate College H-8 Associate Professor Dr Mohammad Khalid, principal of the Islamabad Model Postgraduate College of Commerce H-8/4 Associate Professor Muhammad Naeem Dar and principal of Islamabad Model College for Boys H-9 Associate Professor Javaid Iqbal Mughal have been promoted as professors (BPS-20).
‘Qirat’ contest

Islamabad: With preventive measures against coronavirus in place, the Islamabad Model Postgraduate College H-8 organised a ‘Qirat’ competition.
Young qaris from various classes participated in the competition. Dr Muhammad Umer, Dr Nazir Ahmed Bhutta and Prof Muhammad Shamoon were appointed as judges for the competition, while Professor Dr Habibullah Chishti was the compare of the event.
The participants enthralled the audience with a very high standard of Qirat. According to the decision of judges, Ahmed Ali Jan, a student of BS English, won the first position, Shah Fahad of BS Mathematics second, and Muhammad Saifuddin student of Associate Degree Programme third.
