ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal cabinet will meet today (Tuesday) in Islamabad to discuss the country’s economic and political situation, Dunya News reported.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over the federal cabinet meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s office. The cabinet will discuss a nine-point agenda during the meeting.
According to sources, the federal cabinet will consider a summary of the establishing 30 new accountability courts across the country while the chairman of the IT and Telecom task force will brief the Cabinet.
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has proposed conduct of coming local government (LG) elections across the country in three phases in view of the four-time larger magnitude of the exercise as compared to general polls, according to informed sources.
Sharing details of a series of meetings of the commission on conduct of LG polls held earlier this week, the sources told Dawn that all the provinces still wanted to delay the polls on the pretext of their intention to make substantive changes in the local government laws.
The sources said the participants, including provincial ministers and senior bureaucrats, were told that the total number of constituencies for National and provincial assemblies came to 849, whereas the number of constituencies for LG polls in Punjab alone was 25,000.

ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed on Thursday that the camping ground (CG) in Rawat measuring 95.79 acres is owned by the army and on its front the National Highway Authority (NHA) has constructed and outsourced a bus bay/vehicle stand and tax collected there is deposited by the contractor with the union council of Rawat.
Military authorities have no concern whatsoever with the tax collection.
In a written reply to a question raised by Senator Rana Mahmoodul Hassan, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak said the camping ground, comprising Khasra No 2405 and 2562 of Moza Rawat, is owned by the army since 1937 and the same is entered in the military land register of the Military Estate Office (MEO) Rawalpindi.

The Islamabad Zoo, long a source of complaints from Pakistani animal activists, is officially closing down and converting into an animal conservation centre, city officials announced on December 8.
In May, the Islamabad High Court ordered all of its 878 animals to be relocated to conservation centres. The court also ordered that the zoo’s management be handed over from the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) to Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), on whose recommendation the Ministry of Climate Change decided to convert the 82-acre space into a wildlife conservation centre.
