Tears of relief as workers at N.J. hospital besieged by coronavirus receive vaccine

Tears of relief as workers at N.J. hospital besieged by coronavirus receive vaccine Updated Dec 23, 2020; It’s been an emotional few days for employees at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck. But instead of weeping from exhaustion and despair like so many did when the hospital in Bergen County became overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients in the spring, they are crying tears of relief. Nearly 1,000 nurses, doctors and other front-line employees have rolled up their sleeves to take the Pfizer vaccine since Thursday. “To be able to tell them the vaccine was here felt good,” Holy Name Medical Center President and CEO Michael Maron said Monday. “I admit I did not expect the overwhelming emotion that accompanied this. it was palpable and so strong like a shockwave through the entire organization that has relieved the pent-up stress and anxiety over what everybody witnessed here.”
