According to a recent press release from SoutheastHEALTH, distribution and administration of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine continues in the Southeast Missouri Area. Currently, the area is in the Phase 1B - Tier 1 of Missouri s COVID-19 vaccination plan. This group includes individuals over the age of 65, or those with qualifying pre-existing conditions.
The State of Missouri s COVID-19 dashboard on Jan. 27, showed 10.2 percent of Cape Girardeau County residents, have received the first dose of the vaccine compared to the 4.7% vaccination rate statewide.
Vaccination clinics have been set up in several southeast Missouri counties. Those receiving the first dose ranges from 1 to 8.1% in Scott County, making it the second highest on the state COVID-19 dashboard.
The COVID-19 vaccine is being distributed throughout the area.
This week, the Washington County Health Department received their first doses while hospitals in Iron County and Madison County also received doses.
âWe are pleased to announce that (Tuesday) we began to vaccinate patient-facing healthcare workers for COVID-19,â the Washington County Health Department announced on Facebook. âWe are so thankful to be able to help protect those dedicated to caring for others. At this time, the vaccine is not available to the general public, but we will announce when it is.â
Iron County Medical Center was able to vaccinate 50 of its employees on Wednesday thanks to SoutheastHEALTH in Cape Girardeau providing doses for the rural hospital.
