Emma Kapp crowned 2021 Ionia Free Fair queen
IONIA For the first time in two years, the Ionia Free Fair has a new queen.
Emma Kapp was crowned during the pageant Thursday, July 15. Kapp, of Ionia, is a 2021 graduate of Ionia High School.
Amelia Johnson, of Ionia, was selected first runner-up and Tanner Bowen, of Saranac, was named second runner-up.
The queen and her court attend the fair s nine days, including participating in the parade Saturday, July 17.
Kapp, Johnson and Bowen also received scholarships from Independent Bank and will represent the fair throughout the year until the next court is chosen.

Saturday, June 26
Trucks in place by 11 a.m. and fees paid. Breakfast for the truckers and families at 8 a.m.
Silent auction runs from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Winners don’t need to be present to win and the public is invited to bid.
Polishing stops and judging begins at 11 a.m. Participants are asked to stay with their trucks until judging stops at 5 p.m.
Lunch is from 1-2 p.m. and is provided by the show.
First and second place awards at 6 p.m.
Silent auction winners can pay and collect their items by 6 p.m.
Supper at 7 p.m. provided by the show.
Herbruck s Poultry Ranch leading cleanup of Ionia Free Fair

IONIA Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch is inviting the community to clean up the grounds of the Ionia Free Fair.
Herbruck’s is leading a cleanup of the Ionia Free Fair from 1-7 p.m. Friday, June 4, at the Fairgrounds, according to a media advisory.
Community members can sign up by emailing Amy Herbruck at amy.herbruck@herbrucks.com.
Participants can show up anytime between 1-7 p.m. Friday to help clean the grandstands prior to this year’s Ionia Free Fair, which is scheduled for July 16-24.
Herbruck’s is encouraging anyone who participates to bring buckets, cleaning brushes and rags if available. Gloves will be provided.
