investigation, the fbi agents who will be working anonymously and confidentially still have professional pride. chris wray still has professional pride. you want to make sure that nothing that goes on with the investigation casts doubt on whether it was done correctly. so, for example, you know, various different forms of language, people have said it should be limited in scope. but what happens if you go interview somebody at yale who may have been present at a particular party with brett kavanaugh, is alleged to have engaged in some kind of bad conduct, and that person says, well, here is my recollection of that event, but let me tell you since you are asking and since you came to see me about three other things that happened. what happens often whether it is an investigation of the background or criminal investigation, you take a look at something and because you are looking at it appropriately within the scope of what your responsibilities are, you see these other three things happ
he doesn t understand this. and at some point, after a year plus in, he should. it s not that complicated. john dean, the reporting that the president is going to be interviewed by robert mueller, perhaps even within the coming weeks negotiations are under way, according to the leaks. what does that tell you about where this investigation is? we talked to preet bharara and jeff toobin just before who said look, you don t interview somebody like the president of the united states unless you are at the end of it, because you re not going to get a second chance. i think that s correct. that s certainly the reading i had on reading those reports. he s drawing near the end. he s got all the basic information that he needs so he won t have to go back and try to get another interview. he knows what he wants to ask. trump doesn t know what he wants to ask. so it s also a difficult interview for trump and a troubling one. but it does signal that the investigation is coming to a head on th

that s when i started typing, working on my scripts. and that was like the first in a series of tiny little battles that got me through this year. kind of one challenge to conquer at a time. were you nervous about doing this? to interview somebody who is a friend, who you know, it s a whole different thing. yeah, i was nervous. i think it sort of morphed into what it was as well. i remember originally when miles and i were talking, i was so interested, you know, in the science, the things that we always had in common, the prosthetics and how that was all going to work for him. i remember when i was talking to him in the first interview, and i was learning things that, you know, in medicine we like things in these nice, neat, tidy packages. we like to assign tables. you re now in denial phase, now acceptance, all these things. and, you know, during that interview and then certainly in the months that followed, i realized that things are messy. they re sticky. they don t follow rules
