IDIA and the WHO announce strategic collaboration to support the scale-up of health innovations IDIA and the WHO announce strategic collaboration to support the scale-up of health innovations 26 January 2021 Reading time: The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Development Innovation Alliance (IDIA) today signed a strategic Collaborative Agreement to support the scaling of health innovations. The collaboration will see the two entities work together in support of a shared agenda to promote and facilitate the demand, supply, assessment, and scale-up of health innovation for the benefit of low- and middle-income countries.   This collaboration is another great example of how agencies are coming together in different ways to connect the ever-increasing supply of health innovations to the growing demand for those solutions in WHO member states , said Dr Soumya Swaminathan, WHO Chief Scientist.

How Zim's Rural Water Information System Got Global Applause

How Zim’s Rural Water Information System Got Global Applause December 14, 2020 In 2011, Government through the rebranded National Action Committee (NAC) developed a comprehensive roadmap for the water and sanitation health (WASH) sector whose aim was to guide sector recovery, transition and development efforts. On top of the priority list was the resuscitation and strengthening of WASH governance structures from national through to village level. This gave birth to the development of Rural WASH Information Management System (RWIMS), a mobile-to-web-based monitoring system under the Rural WASH Sub-Sector. Today, the success and transformation story of RWIMS has attracted global attention. Last week, Government and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) became an official member of the Million Lives Club, an initiative that celebrates innovators and social entrepreneurs who are scaling up impact and improving the lives of those living on less than US$5 a day.

CRS Named to "Million Lives Club" For Innovative Malaria Programming

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, Dec. 10, 2020 – In recognition of its innovative and wide-reaching malaria work in Nigeria and The Gambia, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has been named to the Million Lives Club – a group that spotlights individuals and organizations that are successfully improving the lives of people around the world who live on less than $5 a day. The recognition highlights CRS’ “Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) Campaigns” in Nigeria and The Gambia, which, as of this year, have led to the distribution of more than 62 million treated bed nets. At the core of the campaigns are two mobile technologies called the Cash and Asset Transfer (CAT), built on the RedRose ONEsystem, and Dimagi’s CommCare, which provide real-time data that helps CRS and partner teams track bed nets and make more informed decisions about distribution sites.
