good morning and welcome to cnn this morning weekend. i m boris sanchez live in memphis, tennessee, a city that s still processing the horror caught on camera, the horrific beating of tyre nichols at the hands of police. good morning to you, boris. i m amara walker here in atlanta. that encounter from start to finish, the video was released last night, giving the public its first glimpse into what happened on that night. the four clips are each taken from different per specktives, but they all show a deadly encounter between tyre nichols and memphis police officers earlier this month. the images are graphic, disturbing and heartbreaking, but they re critical to understanding the gravity of what happened. i didn t do anything. turn your ass around. all right, all right, all right, all right. on the ground, on the ground. all right, all right, all right. you don t do that, okay? get on the ground. we see and hear a lot. what we do not see is nichols bein
in friday s fighting, a russian missile destroyed a vital supply bridge into the city. bakhmut has seen intense fighting for weeks, as russia tries to claim a victory in eastern ukraine. cnn s melissa bell joins us now from kyiv. melissa, where do things stand? reporter: well, we ve just been hearing from the british ministry of defense, saying that they understand that ukrainian forces are under increasing pressure. that s what we re hearing from the ground, with one soldier on the ground telling us that they were essentially outmanned four to one. and this has been the story for the last few weeks. so russian forces sending in more and more men to try and take every trench, every defensive line, at huge cost to themselves, first and foremost. there is also ukrainians, will there is a lack of ammunition compared to what the russians have, and they are trying to capture bakhmut, but yes, for the time being, this town still stands with his four and a half thousand civilians
maine, new hampshire and massachusetts. we re finally starting to see things subside at this point. a lot of these areas have picked up a foot or more of snow. it s the snow combined with the wind, making travel very difficult. this wind could trigger more trees coming down and an increase of power outages and we already have plenty of those across that region. now we move from the east coast to the west coast where our next system is beginning to take shape. we re starting to see rain and snow showers across areas of washington state, oregon and northern california. that s going to not only spread south into central california, but also inland. a lot of those intermountain west states are also going to pick up considerable amounts of snow, maybe not necessarily today, but certainly over the next 48 hours. that s why you ve got the weather advisories for several states. it s going to be waves of rain and snow coming in for these areas. the highest amounts are really going to
on fire, likely causing house fires in the city of frederick. massive flames, thick smoke, billowing into the air. emergency officials are now on the scene to the city s mayor is asking residents to avoid this area. police are saying the driver of that tanker has died. when me right now on the phone is vera scates of fairfield, who took this video you are seeing. rivera, tell us what you saw. quick into action by getting this video. it was a scene out of a movie. the flames, the smoke, it was everywhere. my husband and i were driving, oh my goodness, look at all the smoke. we didn t know where it was coming from. everyone was out standing and praying. it was crazy. we were across the street from where the fire was and we could feel the heat. the firemen, the cops, and feels normal right now. the firetrucks were there, the police are still out. it was really bad, really bad. people would just like crying and praying for the driver. it looks really bad. of course, we have j
white. we didn t even have time to get anywhere. it was right on top of us. the house was shaking. we were all close together in the middle room of the house. wow. it s the craziest thing i ve ever been involved in. more than 20 million people are under high wind alerts in the mid atlantic, northeast and western u.s. meteorologist alilison chinchar is keeping an eye on all of this. this storm is heading out into the open atlantic, hopefully giving folks a break 24 hours from now. we still have heavy bands of snow across maine, new hampshire. you re getting a little bit of wraparound in upstate new york, places like watertown new york continuing to see snow. when you factor in the snow and wind component, it can lead to whiteout conditions. travel going to be very dicey in some spots. even farther south away from the snow, you still have wind advisories in place, looking at wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour. that could lead to trees down and additional power outages.
