During intraday trading on the BSE, more than 250 stocks, such as Hindustan Unilever, SBI Cards and Payment Services, Page Industries, UPL, and Zee Entertainment, hit 52-week low.
The S&P BSE Sensex rose nearly 200 points while the Nifty50 closed higher but failed to hold above the 22,000 mark on Thursday. Sectorally, buying was seen in power, public sector, metal, and capital goods stocks while healthcare stocks saw some selling pressure.
The blue-chip index NSE Nifty50 added 0.14% to 21,983, while the BSE Sensex gained 0.27% to 72,500. Both the benchmarks gained about 1% in February. In a volatile trading session on monthly derivative expiry, Nifty ended 32 points higher just above the 21-day Exponential Moving Average (21EMA). However, the prevailing sentiment appears somewhat negative from the current level.
