welcome back to state of the union. it is been one year since the supreme court over turned roe v. wade. and across the u.s., the change has been dramatic. more than a dozen states now ban or severely restrict access to abortion and bans in six other states are caught up in the courts. here with me now is democratic senator amy klobuchar. thank you for joining me. i want to start with the attempted insurrection in russia. it was an incredible threat to vladimir putin authority. how weak is the russian leader right now? dana, this was really significant. it shows a crack in the strength of vladimir putin at home. it was a visible rejection of his war policy by a guy who had been his ally who had clearly gone insubordinate and took over a town of over a million people
you had comey s actions being called extraordinary, and insubordinate, according to one report. you ve got the roles of the fbi and informants that went very wrong in michigan, with the plot to kidnap the governor there, and then the fisa court came out and said, when it came to carter page and the surveillance that the fbi conducted, they said it was outrageous. so you do have instances where people look at them and say, these things did happen. this is why. is that a fair idea? that look, there have been some things to question, and they should be able to question it. it is absolutely fair. people absolutely have the right to quit to size and question the justice department, the fbi, your local police. i think we need to keep in mind the big picture here. i can name more failures than that, there are many more. but there are tens of thousands upon tens of thousands of cases that doj and fbi and local prosecutors handle correctly,
because you can see them. make your own determination. do these people who were appointed by trump, do they sound truthful, honest, like they care about america or not? that s for the public. for the law, they re under oath. so, that s different than talking to a washington post reporter where they have had some good reporting about this, and what comes through in that clash in the oval is that you have someone who has the venality of an autocrat but not much of the competence, and i thought it was a really it was a really key moment where they are, as we just showed at the very end, you had some of the highlights, telling the president, on notice, we are your appointees, and your other trump appointees will all walk. this will be before the 6th so in the back of trump s mind, the venality is, oh, he might not care about the reputation or anything but he s thinking, that would complicate what he s trying to pull off on the 6th against pence. but they also tell him, well, and clark,
to put in my body. that s my choice and the result is you are going to terminate me reporter: termination on the line for possibly thousands more as only 64% of the force is fully vaccinated how many officers have not complied with the mayor s orders the unofficial number we have is about over 3,200, so about a third of the department. reporter: continuing a month-long standoff with mayor lori lightfoot at a time when crime in the city is surging they re not going to risk their careers by being insubordinate. reporter: similar mandates taking effect throughout the country. in seattle, a state trooper snaps quitting in a video that s gone viral. this is the last time you will hear me in a state parole car. reporter: seattle has seen resistance, but so far 91% of the force is vaccinated. our goal here is not to lose employees. our goal is to get everybody vaccinated reporter: in los angeles, a county-wide mandate goes into effect on wednesday, but the sheriff says he wo
challenged mayor lightfoot s charge that officers failing to supply with insubordinate. because she says it doesn t make it so. it s not illegal, proper directive. we had a special meeting last night of membership. it was unanimous across the board, hold the line, don t bend. it s not john catanzarro pushing this. john catanzarro is the mouthpiece for the fop members that want something done on their behalf. laura: well, this morning in a fit of rage, all we can call it, mayor lightfoot made clear she was watching the show. she filed a plate against catanzarro and wrote as chicago s mayor i will not stand by while the rhetoric of conspiracy theorists threaten the safety of chicago s residents and first responders and deliberately misled officers by lying about the order.
