The capitol and forced the administration to do a complete 180 on the eviction moratorium. yes. i mean, i think progressives are learning i will agree, in a big way how to fight back legislatively. that s not something we ve seen from an organizational perspective and forced nancy pelosi s hand. yeah, it s a big they are winning policy-wise. i m not really wanting to admit that, but yes, they are. sara, on the right we saw a similar thing, conservatives would win more on policy but not sometimes do as well at the ballot box or sometimes vice versa. i think the democrats are four or five years behind the republicans where the moderates are winning the elections, but eventually the progressives will catch up and start winning more, and you re going to see polarization continue in this country. but, you know, the progressives aren t just winning the policy debates. they re completely in control of it. and you pointed out the eviction moratorium. that s a prime example of it. loo

A lot of people in their homes. ayman? anna, this morning, the punch bowl newsletter focussed in on this. to what extent was speaker pelosi feel the heat from the from the progressives within her caucus? definitely. i mean, this is really i think it s symbolic win for the progressives. they are much better at the outside game than they are on the inside game but clearly speaker pelosi knew it was untenable for democrats not to do something. she was able to find a work-around that the wows could agree to, and not only is it important for her in terms of her relationship with this white house, but it also solidifies that she will have the back of progressives when she needs to which is going to be big for her coming into this fall and the infrastructure debate and all these other debates that are going to test her leadership as well. leanne, just in the last hour, quinnipiac released a new poll that shows broad support for both the bipartisan infrastructure deal and the

Has changed the filter through which the country is looking at how the administration is doing. for much of the year, they have had the wind at their back in terms of making progress against the pandemic and economic recovery. and when the supreme court ruled in june that the eviction moratorium was going to lapse at the end of july, it looked as if this was going to happen in the context of much better times on the pandemic and economically. now all of a sudden the delta variant has changed that picture, created a sense of crisis, which it looked like it snuck up on the administration and congress. it didn t really. they knew it was happening. it s just the context changed, and so there s increasing pressure from the left for the administration to act and that happens right as they re trying to navigate this infrastructure debate where the left wants more spending than they can get through congress right now, and so it s a huge governing challenge for the biden administration to keep

Spending and the economy. here s what worries me the most. gop members that helped write the bipartisan bill said they will vote to launch debate on that bill when it s ready monday. democrats are likely weeks away from finishing their own infrastructure bill. neil? martha: chad pergram, thank you to senator john thune, the senate minority whip. senator, where does this put this infrastructure debate right now? this was an arbitrary deadline that schumer got ahead of himself on. it wasn t necessary to force this vote today. the negotiations continue. the people that are in the room negotiating i think are getting closer to a product that they can send out that people can actually review. then when there s an opportunity next week, if that bill is done, the text is written and scores from the cbo, we can have another vote on this.
