Garcetti To Fly To Washington Today To Discuss Infrastructure Funding

By City News Service May 11, 2021 LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Mayor Eric Garcetti is scheduled to fly to Washington tomorrow to meet with federal officials to discuss the need for more infrastructure funding for Los Angeles. Garcetti is set join House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, and House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair Peter DeFazio, D-Oregon, to begin a campaign advocating for more infrastructure spending in cities across the nation, an aide told City News Service. Garcetti is scheduled to return to Los Angeles Thursday.

The figures will allow lawmakers to begin the appropriations process and give Congress information about the president’s discretionary funding priorities. The final budget request is currently expected in May. Congress Continues Work. Although both chambers will be out of session for the next two weeks on a district work period, lawmakers will continue discussions on the contents of the infrastructure package.
