JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) Indonesia’s confirmed coronavirus infections since the pandemic began crossed 1 million today and hospitals in some hard-hit areas were near capacity.
Indonesia’s Health Ministry announced that new daily infections rose by 13,094 today to bring the country’s total to 1,012,350, the most in Southeast Asia. The total number of deaths reached 28,468.
The milestone comes just weeks after Indonesian launched a massive campaign to inoculate two-thirds of the country’s 270 million people, with President Joko Widodo receiving the first shot of a Chinese-made vaccine. Health care workers, military, police, teachers and other at-risk populations are being prioritized for the vaccine in the world’s fourth most populous

I can confirm that the COVID-19 vaccine for the public would be free of charge. Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) averred here on Wednesday that the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered at no cost to the public. After receiving many inputs from the public and making re-calculation, and re-calculating the state financial standing, I can confirm that the COVID-19 vaccine would be offered free of charge to the public, Jokowi stated during a press conference aired by the Presidential Secretariat.

A long-awaited vaccine against COVID-19 finally arrived in Jakarta on December 6, 2020, and was immediately taken to the headquarters of state-owned pharmaceutical company Bio Farma in Bandung, West Java, where it is now being kept under a tight military and police guard.
Indonesia received 1.2 million doses of the CoronaVac vaccine from Beijing-based biopharma company Sinovac Biotech Ltd, and another 1.8 million doses are scheduled to arrive by January, 2021.
In addition to the finished vaccine, Indonesia will receive raw materials in bulk for producing 15 million doses of the vaccine in December this year and 30 million doses in January, 2021, which will have to be further processed by PT Bio Farma.
