let s go outfront . good evening. i m kate bolduan in for erin burnett. president biden defiant and unapologetic about his decision and execution of the plan to withdrawal u.s. troops from afghanistan speaking to abc news, biden saying the mayhem playing out in afghanistan is not a failure and there was no way to withdrawal without chaos ensuing. back in july, you said a taliban takeover was highly unlikely. was the intelligence wrong or did you down play it? i think there was no cons consensus. they said more likely to be something by the end of the year. you didn t put a timeline on it when you said it was highly unlikely. you said flatout highly unlikely the taliban would take over. yeah, the question was whether or not the idea that the taliban would take over is premised on the notion that the somehow 300,000 troops we trained and equipped would collapse, they would give up. i don t think anyone anticipated that. we ve all seen the pictures and hundreds
and it would be, at this point not in our best interest to talk about it. about four months ago, we talked about this, you said essentially it is up to the victim to come forward before we take action of any sort. is there any indication why this is the timing now, now that four or five months after the initial report she decides to take action? i really can t answer that. what i can say it is obvious that the attorney general released her report. i think maybe at that point she became aware of how brave the other victims are to come forward and it may have empowered her as well. do you have any estimate of now how long the investigation like this will be in weeks? you know what, i would be guessing. you know, this is obviously a high profile investigation. there s a lot of information out there. we have a lot of fact-finding to do, a lot of interviews to do, and you know what, i m not going to rush it because of who he is and not going to delay it because of who he i
