What s happening today is just disgraceful, the way we re being treated, and them denying us our rights to vote, which is automatic. Clearly the people want to vote, and the way they want to do it is without impediments. These restrictions are for that. Why did dr. So the best action is to pass legislation championed by late georgia congresswoman john lewis who spoke at the original march on washington nearly six decades ago. If they can t do the right thing, they should at least do something for selfpreservation. Clearly, the people want to vote. And the way they want to do it is without impediments. These restrictions are for that. That s why martin and andrea king and i are calling and the lewis family are calling for people to pass the john lewis act federal. The backdrop of all of this is the filibuster. If democrats can t find a way to kill it or to modify it, passing any kind of voting rights legislation will remain nothing more than a dream.
