The petition has highlighted that the salt cultivation season stretches from mid-September until April, and they have been stopped from undertaking cultivation in plots less than 10 acres in area.
The Maliya police said the incident took place around 10.30 pm when Kalpesh, who ran a paani-puri joint at Vavaniya village in Maliya, was on his way to a nearby village with his family to meet relatives.
