It brings to an end nearly 20 years of operations in afghanistan, culminating in the evacuation of more than 15 thousand people from the country in the past two weeks. An estimated 11 hundred eligible afghans and 150 uk nationals could not get out. Here s our diplomatic correspondent, caroline hawley.
