, April 20 (IANS) Karnataka Police have extended the curfew orders in Hubballi city till April 23 in order to maintain law and order in the area which saw large-scale violence on Saturday night.The prohibitory orders were clamped from April 17 .
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday denied allegations levelled by the Opposition of arresting innocent persons in connection with Hubli violence.
Action should be taken against the people who take law into their own hands and attack the civilians or police. It is intolerable, said Karnataka Minister CN Ashwathnarayan.
Hubballi, Apr 18: More than 100 persons have been detained in connection with the large-scale violence following a provocative social media post targeting Muslims in the city and the accused are likely to be produced in a court on Monday.
As many as six cases were registered in connection with stone-pelting that took place on Saturday night at Old Hubli police station leaving four policemen injured in Karnataka`s Hubli, reports ANI.
