By Shelley Shan / Staff reporter
The Taiwan Railways Administration is at 5am today to resume full operations on the railway line between Rueifang (瑞芳) and Houtong (猴硐) stations in New Taipei City after operations were disrupted by a rain-triggered landslide, Minister of Transportation and Communications Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said yesterday.
Lin inspected the section of line for the ninth time yesterday.
He told reporters that the agency resumed two-way operations on the eastern line on Dec. 4 last year and it had set a goal of resuming operations on the western line on Monday next week.

New Taipei, Dec. 14 (CNA) A railway line in northeastern Taiwan damaged by a landslide on Dec. 4 was reopened to traffic early Monday morning, 10 days after services were disrupted, with trains limited to a top speed of 40 kilometers per hour.
Transport Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) greeted the first train, which arrived at Houtong Station in New Taipei at 5:17 a.m., after canceled services resulted in 300,000 passengers taking other forms of transportation.
The landslide buried sections of the railway line, run by Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) between Ruifang and Houtong, beneath 3,800 cubic meters of rock and soil. The line connects Taipei and Yilan County.
