Leaders at the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs can expect some blunt questions from lawmakers today. The Illinois House’s Civil Judiciary Committee opens hearings into the coronavirus outbreak at the veterans’ home in LaSalle this morning. Thirty six people at the home have died from the virus, and many more tested positive. Lawmakers and veterans’ families say the VA hasn’t done enough to protect the people who live in the home.
