Cuisuba Yi Cultural & Visitor Center / West-line studio

© Jingsong Xie Text description provided by the architects. On a northwestern Guizhou typical plateau, placed at an altitude of above 2,000 meters in-between untouched grassland hills and mountains, stands the Cuisuba Yi Cultural & Visitor Center. Completed in March 2021, the center was conceived as a landmark to pay homage to the Yi people, an ethnic minority group mainly residing in the mountainous regions and rural areas of South-West China. The building grows from a slope with a maximum inclination of 20 degrees, surrounded by mountains all around. Commissioned by the Dafang County Tourism Development Office in order to provide the basic structure to promote tourism in the area, the center aims to become a symbolic landmark celebrating Yi culture.

Margot Restaurant / Alfaro/Acevedo Arquitectura

© Ramiro Sosa Text description provided by the architects. The work was conceived from a client s premise: “farm-to-table”. From this concept and considering the characteristics of the garden neighborhood of the place, a simple typology was thought of, of unique and flexible space surrounded by nature. Where the dining room coexists in the central area, the open kitchen at one end and the bar at the other.

Shelters for Hotel Bjornson / Ark-shelter

© BoysPlayNice We consider the concept of placing the modules between the trees ecological, not only for the tree preservation but also for the minimum contact of the modules with the ground due to raising them on stilts instead of laying on the classic concrete plate foundations. This allows the landscape to continuously flow under the building and breathe, while the green roof of the module doubles the biotope that lays beneath it. © BoysPlayNice The apartment design was based on the client’s idea of the outer shell, one-sided orientation, and views, that had to fit quite a large program. All buildings/cottages comprise two independent modules, each with its own independent apartment consisting of a bedroom-living room, children’s room, entry hall, and a bathroom. Each of these two separately functioning units can be connected into one by sliding the partitioning wall of the living rooms, creating a spacious central space where two families can meet and socialize.

Open 24/7, the stand serves fast-food to visitors at this extremely popular tourist site.

The designer chose to let the change begin with the interior space.  © Rungkit Charoenwat By changing the original flat ceiling to be a slope ceiling along the gable roof. To add dimensions in the vertical axis to make the shop area looks more airy. Revealing the original structure of the building and select the context of the original parts. It represents a successful piece in the restaurant era as well.  Meet the needs of the owner who wants to keep it ‘
