Apr 24, 2021 Gordon Bruce Tavares (86) of Kahului, Maui, passed away on March 27, 2021, with his family at his side. Gordon was born on October 16, 1934, to Louis Tavares Jr. and Matilda Milare Tavares in Hilo, Hawai’i. As a young man, Gordon served in the US Marines and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was also a former employee at Love’s Bakery (O’ahu) and the Maui Price Hotel before retirement. Gordon is predeceased by his brothers Richard and Donald, son Vernon, and daughter Candace. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Esperanza Tavares; daughters Katherine, Valerie, Marrianne (Ramin), and Princess Matilda (Matt); son Bruce, sisters Ruth, Marlene, and Minnie; nieces and nephews; 14 grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Jan 23, 2021 Ricardo Paranada Sapla 82 of Lahaina, Maui HI, peacefully passed away at home on January 8, 2021. He was born on April 4, 1938 in Gonzaga Cagayan in the Philippines. He is survived by son, Roger Sapla (Kristen Sato), Charles (Mary) Morales “adopted son,” 2 grandchildren, Trisha-Marie Sapla (Reece) Gelacio, Ryan Morales, 1 great grandchild Gianna Belle Gelacio, 2 brothers, Saturnino (Irene) Sapla, Martin (Rosita) Sunio. He is predeceased by his wife, Gorgonia Asuncion Sapla; his parents, Aniceto Bernabe Sapla, Simeona Paranada Sapla; and his siblings, Consolacion Sabas Orteza, Corazon Dominador Morales. He worked for Maui Land and Pine (Honolua) for more than 25 years and retired in 2003. He was a hard worker, caring and loving dad, papa, brother and uncle to family, friends and even strangers, always putting family first before himself. He also had a big heart for all his and other grandchildren, al-ways spoiling them.
