Wandering Minds organises painting competition

Dimapur, Oct. 30 (EMN): With an objective to promote fine arts in Nagaland and encourage budding artists, Wandering Minds organised its 1st inter-school painting competition on October 22 and the prizes were given away on October 29. An update from Wandering Minds stated that a total of 427 students from 33 schools in and around Dimapur participated in the competition. It stated that a total of 10 consolation prizes along with the first, second and third winners were given away from each of the 16 categories. It informed that LKG and UKG students from various schools were also presented with prizes in order to encourage more participation in the field of fine arts. It stated that St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School was adjudged the champion team, while Little Star Higher Secondary School and Holy Cross Higher Secondary School secured the first and second runners-up prizes respectively. Denounce 'tribalism and clanism', Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister tells students

Our Reporter Dimapur, Oct. 15 (EMN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, on Saturday called on the student community to come together and denounce ‘tribalism and clanism’, which he said were destroying the fabric of Naga society. He opined that tribalism and clanism had no place in the 21st century. “Clan system was used for the convenience of inter-marriage by the forefathers and therefore should not be used for creating division,” he said while citing the existence of clanism in student body elections and higher levels as well. Patton said this at the Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) golden jubilee celebration at Dimapur Government College auditorium on Saturday. ANPSA units conduct literary competitions

Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): Dimapur unit of the All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) organised a district level literary competitions (quiz and extempore speech) on August 26. An update from ANPSA stated that more than 700 students, teacher representatives and board members from 18 schools have participated in the competition. It stated that Rev. Fr. Philip Y, principal of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, delivered the welcome address as convenor, while Neena Dutta, ANPSA treasurer and principal of St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, delivered the vote of thanks.
