BENIN-CITY – The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) has announced the constitution of an interim Elders Council for the Holy Aruosa Cathedral which was hitherto closed down for reorganisation as a result of the removal of Mr Harrison Okao as Ohenosa.
The interim Elders Council, according to a statement by the Secretary, BTC, Frank Irabor, has been approved by the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II.
It is to be headed by Chief Norense Ozigbo-Esere (Osuma) as Chairman; Chief OMOREGIE Stanley OBAMWONYI (Esere), Vice Chairman; while Chief Ekhorovbiye Oviasogie (Eribo) and Chief Edionwe Oliha (Oliha) are members.
The statement indicated that the constitution of the interim Elders Council is a follow-up to the dissolution of the Elders Council headed by Chief Omonomose Igbinovia (Osagiobariase) as acting Chairman.

As part of measures to expedite the reopening of the Holy Aruosa Cathedral, Benin which was recently closed down for reorganisation as a result of the removal of the Ohenosa (Chief Priest), Mr Harrison Okao, the Elders Council has been dissolved.
A statement yesterday in Benin by Mr Frank Irabor, the secretary of Benin Traditional Council (BTC) explained that the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Ewuare ll, has approved the appointment of Chief Norense Obamwonyi as the chairman of the Interim Elders Council in place of the erstwhile acting chairman, Chief Jackson Omonomose Igbinovia.

No fewer seven persons were, on Monday evening, kidnapped along Ilesa- Akure express road by armed suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The herdsmen said to have abducted travellers who were mainly officials of road transport workers but whose identities are yet to be identified as at the time of filing in this report.
The kidnapped people who said to be in a 16- seaters bus before being abducted by their abductors around 9.30 pm of the day in Iwaraja town of Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, said to have been marched to a nearby forest in the area where the incident happened.
