MILLERSBURG Holmes County office buildings are in for a major boost when a new wireless system is put in place that will increase the meg capacity from 100 to 10,000.
Commissioners met with Blueshift Wireless co-owners Kyle Yoder and Dean Anderson on Monday to discuss the project, which will be broken into four phases that at the end will form a wireless line circle that connects all of the county office buildings in Millersburg, and will be accessible to businesses. Right now we have the existing fiber that runs through town, Yoder said. The goal is to make a ring, that is redundant, and also making it accessible to businesses.
MILLERSBURG The 16th Annual Holmes County Rails-to-Trails Benefit Auction is coming up June 12 at Harvest Ridge after a one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The auction, which raises money for maintenance and development of the Holmes County Trail, begins at 9 a.m. and will include locally made furniture, quilts, plants, lawn mowers, tools, swingsets, and buggies. At 11:30 a.m., a 12 by 24 log cabin will be sold.
Holmes County Park District Board Member Mike McDowell is excited the event is back and thankful for the continued support from the community. The Holmes County Park District with its somewhat limited budget, there s is absolutely no way that we could complete and maintain and support this trail without the support of that coalition, McDowell said. They are a critical component. We could not do it on our own.
Wayne and Holmes counties received generous allocations to fund a number of community projects under the 2021-2022 capital budget despite the economic downturn.
Ohio lawmakers passed a $2.1 billion capital budget at the end of 2020. In addition to community projects for each of the state s 88 counties, the budget includes $305 million for repairs, renovations and maintenance for public schools, $452 million for public colleges and universities, $280 million for local infrastructure, and $171 million for economic development and cultural projects.
Holmes County received more than $1.3 million for its community projects, the majority of which was allocated to the Holmes County Park District Trail. The park district received $1 million through the Department of Natural Resources to complete a gap on the Holmes County Trail between Glenmont and Killbuck.
