ATLANTA (AP) Supporters of expanding school vouchers in Georgia are renewing their push to expand options, including a measure that could give $6,000 a year to almost anyone as long as their child attended public school for a short time.
Two bills authored by Woodstock Republican state Rep. Wes Cantrell aimed at giving families a choice of where to send their children to school moved forward in House committees Tuesday, including one that could make taxpayer-funded school vouchers available to all Georgia students.
Gwinnett County Public Schools just installed metal detectors at their headquarters for public meetings. Attendees will also have to go through a security screening.This part of the additional safety measures the district put in place following disruptions at recent meetings.
