Woman ‘really kind of proud’ to refurbish and donate violins to those in need

MUSKEGON, MI – Nicole Hudson’s kitchen table is covered in worn-out violins, clamps, glue and pieces of wood.
The Muskegon-area woman brings new life to broken violins by refurbishing and donating them to those in need.
The project started about a decade ago when Hudson was a bus driver for Fruitport Community Schools. A student who’s family was homeless confided in Hudson that she would like to play the violin.
Hudson bought a $10 violin from eBay, fixed it up and worked with the district to gift it to the girl.

“The older they are, the better they sound,” Hudson says.
The Muskegon-area woman collects broken down violins, repairs them and donates the instruments to the community, including to a 17-year-old boy, a mother of three children and a girl from Ravenna.
