The Orcadian are delighted to confirm, this Thursday morning, that the newspaper has been shortlisted in three categories at this year’s Scottish Press Awards.
The Orcadian has been shortlisted for Journalism Team of the Year for coverage of former NHS Orkney chief executive designate, Iain Stewart, and his decision to commute to his Highland home during the height of lockdown.
The newspaper’s Orkney Loves Local campaign, aimed at boosting community support for Orkney businesses during the pandemic, has made the shortlist for Local Weekly Campaign of the Year.
Scottish Bakers has postponed its annual conference and awards until 2022.
The trade body was due to host the conference and Scottish Baker of the Year Awards in September, the event having been previously postponed from last May due to the pandemic.
It has now been pushed back to 6 and 7 May 2022 and will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.
“Whilst the Covid vaccination programme progresses and we see restrictions slowly lifting, the board of directors and senior management team felt there is still too much uncertainty to allow us to effectively plan the event,” said chief executive Alasdair Smith.
