The coronavirus years? Historical perspectives on COVID-19 and its aftermath This symposium, organised in conjunction with History & Policy, Institute of Historical Research will draw on historical research to explore the policy challenges that result from significant health and social crises and show how these were addressed in the past. The symposium seeks to move beyond the historical analysis of the ‘emergency’ phase of pandemics and assess their longer running legacies.
The event consists of two half days of two sessions, tackling three papers in each session with a Q&A to close. The symposium will have two areas of focus:

Former Vail Town Council member Greg Moffet states that he feels remote locations is not an answer to employee housing. As a five-year seasonal employee faced with a 70-mile commute to work, I would agree with him as things are currently remote commuting can be problematic.

Since the passage of the CARES Act last year, anytime Congress has considered additional state and local aid, Republicans have described it as a “blue state bailout” a reward for supposedly Democratic-run places that have not budgeted wisely.
But even in many red areas of the country, local leaders are calling for additional funds to help weather the drawn out impacts of the pandemic. And that includes Colorado.
“All of our stores, all of our retailers have suffered tremendous losses over the last 12 months because of COVID,” said Fremont County Commissioner Debbie Bell.

Boulder District Court will hear Boulder, Boulder County climate liability suit against ExxonMobil and Suncor Energy
Boulder County, Colo. Judge Judith LaBuda ruled last week that the landmark climate liability lawsuit brought by Boulder County and the City of Boulder would continue in Boulder District Court, denying a motion by Suncor Energy to move the case to Denver.
“After a year of climate-fueled wildfires and poor air quality, it is clear that the climate crisis is profoundly impacting Boulder County,” said Matt Jones, chair, Boulder County Board of County Commissioners. “Our communities will continue to face the rising costs associated with climate change.
