Of decisions is complicated. But youre right. I mean, obviously, if we had, right from the very beginning shut everything down, it may have been a little bit different, but there was a lot of pushback about shutting things down back then. There certainly was. And the possible effects of that pushback are in the numbers youre seeing on your screen, more than 550,000 confirmed cases here in the United States and a death toll nearing 22,000. Of course, no one can say how much lower the numbers would have been if the white house had taken action sooner. Meantime, the president is spending this Easter Sunday weighing what he calls the biggest decision of his presidency, when to reopen the country. Dr. Fauci explained to my colleague, jake tapper, what any sort of moves to open up the country might look like in the coming months. Thank you so much for being with me this morning. We begin on capitol hill. The clock is ticking and the risk of a Government Shutdown growing. With only enough money to keep the government running another 11 days, Republican Leaders say they will approve new funding only if obama care is defunded. The president is calling it extortion and even some republicans disagree on this highstakes political gamble. Our goal here is to cut spending and to protect the American People from obama care. Its as simple as that. We cant let the government shut down. We cant be kamikazes and we cant be general custer. There is backlash from americans who feel the bite of a shutdown.
Friends in the other party have made the idea of preventing these people from Getting Health Care their holy grail, their number one priority. The one unifying principle in the Republican Party at the moment is making sure that 30 Million People dont have health care. Thats hard to understand as an agenda thats going to strengthen our middle class. And this was his response to Tea Party Leaders like ted cruz, rand paul and mike lee who are champb oning a Government Shutdown if the obama care law is not defunded. The idea that you would shut down the government unless you prevent 30 Million People from Getting Health Care is a bad idea. What you should be thinking about is how can we advance and improve ways for middle class families to have some security so that if they work hard they can get ahead. Youll hear more from the president shortly, but the bottom line is this. This was perhaps the most impassioned defense of the law that weve seen from him to date. It has democrats everywher

According to the documents, mckinley told lawmakers he resigned partly because of his concerns for his of the administrations efforts to procure negative political information. Question i think youve also said part of the reason why you decided to resign was that you couldnt be blind to what was happening and what was happening was efforts to use the state department to dig up dirt on a political opponent. Is that fair . Mckinley responds thats fair.
